We want our board back!

I have responded emotionally to other posts on this thread.

I repeat: don't read posts that don't interest you.  Block people who offend you.

If you want to "take the forum back" do it!

Here's the reason I joined OFF: because there were people here in my age group, who understood my frame of reference and held similar interests (weight loss, family, elderly parents, health) and values (I won't begin to get into that).

I have seen so much divisive CRAP in other OH forums over STUPID, SILLY SH*T, it really distresses me to see this kind of controversy here.  I thought we were all mature adults who could accept each other's differences and beliefs.

Is that not the case?

Jean, if I don't agree with you, why does it bother you.  This is my post and my opinon and like you, I have the right to state my purpose and my desries. I came here to for the support, but, unlike you, I am not christain and do not appreciate all that you guys post and find it distracting and harrassing.  I am not, and I repeat, I am not a trouble maker. In fact, in the past I have left the board when I didn't agree and left when all the religion came about, but lately, I have missed the support, and will not let you or any other wingnut keep me away.  So, if you don't like my thread, point your mouse to that little thing called ignore, cause I'm here, and I'm going to let you and everyone else know how I feel.  So deal.

Jeannie,

At this point, I have expended too much effort on this thread, but it's been fun.

Thanks for calling me a "wingnut".  I love that!

Look forward to hearing from you soon...

I came here for WLS supportI haven't posted that much here because I often feel out of place as a Jewish woman.  I would like to feel more welcome here...

Marciam, that's my point.  Why should you or me or anyone else feel isolated because we are not a part of their religious ideology?  All that I'm saying is, this a forum for wls not religion and they can keep that part of their lives seperate.  That's all I'm saying.

Marcia,

I'm not Jewish, though my best friend in HS was Jewish and included me in all her family's religious celebrations.  I just want to say that Jews (and Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Wiccans, Atheists, etc.) should feel welcome here and post here.

Maybe you feel overwhelmed by the Christian content here, but if you don't post your Jewish (or other content), you may be neglecting an OH population that is lurking out there, afraid to participate...

Best wishes.

Jean

I don't feel as offended as you seem to but i havae noticed a very religious bent to this forum. I was raised religious and still consider myself a Christian but really don't believe it is necessary to constantly talk about it to others who might not feel that way. This forum is just echoing the nation lately. Christianity has become a "face" to put on anything that you want to think is good. Just look at politics. People professing to be Christian and then doing exactly what they are preaching against.
I am not saying that people on this board are not genuine. I have stayed on this board because i believe that they are genuine. My mother preaches and evangelizes constantly. it drives me nuts but she believes it and is genuine. She is not putting on. i tried the MO board but the religious thread was so strong I could not stay. I do not feel that it is overpowering here, just ever present. I just have not clicked on the read the Bible thread.
I love his other threads and think George is a great person. I would not flame him or anyone else here for the world.
I would prefer if the majority of the religious tone were done on the other forum but would not leave this one because it is here. THis is becasue it is genuine.
My husband who considers himself an atheist, would be greatly offended and rolls his eyes when i read him some posts but I don't mind so terribly.
